We hosted our annual Valentine’s Ball this year in The g Hotel, Galway on Saturday, February 14th. Over 170 people supported this event to help raise funds and awareness for vital breast cancer research conducted in NUI, Galway under the directorship of Professor Michael Kerin.
The event was supported by a number of businesses in Galway City, including McCambridge’s who donated the wine for the evening and John Connolly who supported the drinks reception. Aine Burke from AW Diamonds in Eglington Street, Galway donated an 18k White Gold Aquamarine and Diamond Ring worth €3,000 for the annual “Dial a Diamond” competition. The lucky winner of the diamond was Sean Delaney from Clarinbridge.
Johanna Downes, NBCRI Director and Chief Organiser of the event said: “I am delighted at the success of this year’s ball and I’d like to thank each and every person who supported the event in any way. Over €5,000 was raised from our raffle alone on the evening which will benefit the research hugely. I’d like to thank the Galway Fundraising committee for their dedication and support, the management and staff in The g Hotel and to all of our sponsors for their generosity”.
The Valentine’s Ball was the our first social fundraising event of the year. Other fundraising events that will take place during 2015 include; The Lisloughrey Ladies Lunch, The ”Into the West” Cycle and the Memphis Walking Challenge to name a few.
