Roundstone has become a retreat for many over the years but always maintained the a fun factor. Now ‘Roundstone For Fun’ a fundraiser which takes place in the Community Centre, Roundstone on Saturday 12th August, will bring everyone together to help raise funds for two great causes. It’s the brain child of husband and wife Greig and Anna Sweeney who set-up the event with the purpose of raising money for Breast Cancer Research a national charity, that funds a comprehensive research programme at the Lambe Institute for Translational Research, NUI Galway while helping to fund the development of the Roundstone Community Centre. A native of Dublin, Anna has strong links with Roundstone as her family, the Creedon’s built a house in Gurteen Beach in 1958 where she holidayed all her life. She wanted to help support research into breast cancer to help increase the outcome for women like herself and give back to a community which has become her second home. So with husband Greig on board, ‘Roundstone For Fun’ was born. The event will kick off at 8pm when those attending will enjoy a beautiful dinner courtesy of Camilie Thai Food before dancing the night away with award winning band, The Bentley Boys. The target is to raise €10,000 on the night. Sweeney’s Garage and their suppliers have generously stepped in to cover the cost of the event so all monies raised from ticket sales will go directly to the two causes. Tickets are €40 and can be purchased at www.roundstoneforfun.ie
