DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Nollaig na mBan for Breast Cancer Research \nNollaig na mBan\, or Women’s Little Christmas\, is an old Irish tradition celebrated on January 6th each year\, originally created as a day where women got together for a much needed rest after the stress of the Christmas season. This year\, Galway based charity\, Breast Cancer Research\, are asking ladies to get together on January 6th to celebrate the end of the Christmas while helping to raise funds in support of Breast Cancer Research. \nIn Ireland\, 1 in 10 women will develop breast cancer during their lifetime\, with over 2\,800 cases of breast cancer diagnosed here each year\, Breast Cancer Research\, a national charity\, raises funds in support of world-class research at the National University of Ireland\, Galway. By funding this research\, Breast Cancer Research aims to greatly improve the future outcomes for breast cancer patients. \nSpeaking at the launch of the fundraiser\, Breast Cancer Research Chairperson\, Miriam Hand\, said: “This is the third year of our Nollaig na mBan campaign and we hope that as many women as possible and businesses nationally\, will get behind the initiative by organising a fundraising event in their local area to make it the best year yet for Breast Cancer Research.” She went on to say: “Research is key\, as only through it can we ascertain the causes and factors that influence breast cancer and therefore help to develop effective treatments and medication to combat it and this is a perfect opportunity for us all to get together to make a difference.” \nSo\, whether it’s a coffee morning or an afternoon tea party at home\, or in the workplace\, a fun quiz night or fancy dress at the local pub or club\, it’s a great chance to catch up with the girls and celebrate the wonderful women in our lives while helping to raise funds and support a great cause. \nTo find out more about the Nollaig na mBan fundraiser for Breast Cancer Research and to get some great ideas for your event\, register for your fundraising pack by calling (091) 863 917 visiting: www.breastcancerresearch.ie or by emailing: hello@breastcancerresearch.ie \n  \n
