One of the National Breast Cancer Research Institute funded researchers; Dr Una McVeigh was conferred with her PhD degree last week by #VirtualGraduation at NUI Galway.
We are delighted for Una who joined the National Breast Cancer Research Institute funded lab in 2015 and was co-funded by the Monkstown Hospital Foundation. Her research focused on breast cancer genetics, classifying a panel of gene mutations that could identify women who are predisposed to breast cancer. Una is currently working as a Bioprocessing Trainer with the National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training based in UCD.
Una was funded by the charity made possible by our fundraisers. She says; “My time as a National Breast Cancer Research Institute funded researcher set me up well for my new role, having gained relevant research expertise, experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team and communicating my work to the public.”
During her time funded by the charity Una presented her work nationally and internationally and has contributed to public information resources on breast cancer risk.
Congratulations on your graduation Una and thank you to all our fundraisers who made Una’s journey into research possible.
